TONY C. DALTON
SENIOR ATTORNEY
Upon his graduation from West Henderson High School in 1974, Mr. Dalton went on to earn a BS degree with honors from Appalachian State University. He furthered his education and graduated first in his law school class of 1981 from Campbell University School of Law with honors.
He has been practicing law primarily in Transylvania, Henderson, Polk and Buncombe Counties for the past four decades. He has received a “BV” or Distinguished Rating with Martindale-Hubbell for the past twenty years based on peer review. He has an active trial practice in all areas of criminal law from traffic offenses to capital murder and was one of the original members of the North Carolina Capital Defenders since 2000. He has been the lead attorney in more than forty-five (45) murder cases. Mr. Dalton also handles criminal law, family law, wills and estate law, and personal injury law.
Mr. Dalton was County Attorney for Transylvania County for five years, and was the primary attorney for the Child Support Enforcement with the Transylvania County Department of Social Services for 35 years where he won a number of awards, and served as a back-up attorney for Transylvania County Department of Social Services Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services for a number of years. He has been active in the North Carolina Child Support Counsel for over thirty (30) years, having been President in 2006, a Board Member for twelve (12) years, and CLE Chairman for the Conference at least ten (10) years. He has served as local Bar President and President of the District Bar on numerous occasions.
He is married to the former Cynthia Lance and has two children, a son, Addison Dalton, a mortgage banker in Charlotte, NC, and a daughter, Adrienne Dalton, a federal employee in Washington, DC.
Mr. Dalton has been active in St. Timothy United Methodist Church and in civil clubs including the Brevard Lions Club, and the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club.
